Bits of Life

Here's what I observed this evening...

The scene:
Evie putting Libby to "bed." (covering her in her Blankie on the floor)

The conversation:

Evie - it's ok Sweet Libby Faith, I'm here. If you need help, I'm here. If a moose tries to eat your tummy, you just tell me, and I'll push it away, K?

Libby - Kay

Evie - and if a cat comes to snuggle you, I'll get it, K?

Libby - Kay

Evie - and if your Blankie falls off and you need me to tuck you in, you just say "Evelyn, help!" K?

Libby - Kay

This conversation went on for 10 minutes! And the part about the moose was repeated a few dozen times! (we must live in Idaho!) I was amazed Libby played along for that long. Twas the sweetest thing I've seen them do yet. :) I'm so glad God gave us 2 girls first.

The pics are a bit of a jumble...

There's one of a scarf I finished recently.
There's one of the sun shining through the rain and trees.
There's one of all the animals lined up for a meal (Evie's doing).
There's one of story time with Daddy.
There's one of my lovely pens.
And then one of my pizza box art.

And that's that!

Just a few random things

I've been remiss in blogging lately, mostly because I've had my husband around a lot and thus less "hmmm...I'm alone...what shall I do?" time. (which is a very nice thing, folks!) The girls and I have been very thankful to be up in Daddy's neck of the woods for the last few weeks. We get to eat our meals with him, play with him at the end of the day, go tromping through the snow with him on the weekends...what a novel idea! Living with one's husband! :) So, since I can't predict what order my pictures will load in, here's an explanation ahead of time.

The snowy pic: that is a path just outside our cabin. I love it! It reminds Jon and I of our honeymoon in Leavenworth. There is something of a child-like joy awakened in me when I walk through that snow hallway. :)

The girls on the floor: they've been playing a lot more WITH each other lately. Hide and seek. Imaginary meal making. Baby tending. Evie is the entertainment director, of course, but Libby seems to enjoy playing along. It's so much fun to see their friendship develop. Here, they are both snuggling their blankies. :)

Libby and her pacifier(s): when Evie was born, we took to calling her pacifier a "plug"...for obvious reasons! When she started talking, she added an "a" to the end. It became her "plugga." Now that Libby is starting to talk, she calls it her "Paaah!" (adding more "a's" the more excited she is...) I usually carry two with me. As the saying goes, "one is none!" She found the backup plug the other day and requested it be attached too! So funny to see her try to figure out what to do with them!

Me with skis: a couple of sweet friends and I got try our hands (and our wobbly legs) at skiing for the first time a few weeks ago. It was a blast! ...though not because we went fast or found out we had natural talent. ;) It was more along the lines of bonding through laughter...laughing with relief as we fell and realized we hadn't broken anything...laughing as the toddlers cruised by us confidently...laughing as our 60-something instructor high-fived us and told us we "tore it up out there!" ...laughing as we recounted the day to our husbands (who watched ALL THE CHILDREN for us that day!). Yes, it was a blast!
